The pixel Trade Project created by Shantanu Starick. His photography is for food, shelter and transport. His goal is to travel all seven continents using take as his only currency. So far he photographed musician in Melbourne, designer in Dublin, bread exchanger, Malin Elmlid in Berlin and many more. He's currently traded with companies like tumblr and vimeo. He has been participate in nearly 200 trades and he has no plan to stop.

Week 13th (Visiting Singapore International Photography Festival 2014)
Visit to 4th Singapore International Photography Festival 2014
Part 1:
1. As you visit the festival , look at all the works and name a series that attracts you most.

2. Who is the photographer?
Carrie Lam
3. What is the title of the series?
Tracing time
4. What do you see in this series of works? ( denotation )
I see mixtures of old / retro and modern elements in the works, transition from the past to future, daughter and mom, etc.
5. What do you think about what you see? ( connotation )
I feel the sense of loneliness, the sense of missing someone dear to the curator.
6. What do you think the photographer is trying to communicate?
Personally i think the curator is trying to portray the nostalgic feeling to the viewer / audience.
7. What does it make you wonder?
How the author does the photo edit or manipulation between the old images and the new images.
8. What question do you have about the work?
I would ask the curator about how she blend the old photos to the new images.
9. What would you ask the photographer if he/she is here?
It would be great if i get to ask her about how she felt during the shooting.
Part 2
How are the photographs in the festival presented?
Based on series, colors , emotions, texture.
What choices did the curators make in the display of the works?Are the photographs grouped in a certain way?
Exposure, details, choice of color and depth of field.
Write down your thoughts about the festival. Did the festival deepen your understanding of contemporary photography?
Mixtures of feelings like sadness, emptiness, happiness and story behind the images for the viewers to better understand their works, each image has to tell a story, and a picture is able to tell a thousand words.
